The graphics of Onet Connect Animal aren’t spectacular but the picture quality is good enough for a pair matching puzzle game. The rules of the game are extremely simple and you can easily get started with the game by tapping on ‘New’ button at the top left side of the screen. Once started, you will have to pick between the two game modes offered i.e. ‘Classic’ and ‘Extend’. There is no real difference between the two other than that ‘Classic’ has seven levels while ‘Extend’ boasts thirteen levels. Once you have decided the game mode, you need to decide the theme with which you want to play the game. You can either select the ‘animal’ theme or the ‘food’ theme. The selection can be made at any stage of the game by tapping on either the ‘cat’ symbol (for animal theme) and the ‘burger’ symbol (for the food theme) on the top right of the screen. It’s better if you select the theme at the very start of each level as if you would change theme during the level, you will find it difficult to find pairs with the new themed tiles.

The rules of the game are simple. You have to match similar tiles. Tiles can be matched if they can be connected to each other using three straight lines. The lines can only pass through free space. When the game is started, there are a couple of easy matches which are present side-by-side. Once you find and match these tiles, you will free up space. As a result, you can then start matching tiles which are further apart from each other. The tiles on the extreme right, left, top and bottom of the screen have free space to begin with and you can match similar tiles present in the same or adjacent sides right at the beginning as well. Once you have done that, you can then start tackling the middle tiles and this is where remembering the positions of the different tiles would help you solve the puzzle quicker. You can get in-game ‘hints’ from the game itself which would tell you the moves. You can take a hint by tapping at the ‘Search’ block at the top left of the screen. There are only two hints given for each level and it’s important you choose them at critical junctures to keep the game moving. You can earn three more hints by watching a short video.

There are two ways in which the game can end. The first way is if you aren’t able to match all the tiles within the time frame of the given level. The second way is if your ‘lives’ end. There are 10 lives given at the start of ‘Classic’ mode while there are 18 lives given at the start of the ‘Extend’ mode. A life is reduced if there are no possible moves left within a game. At this point of the game, a life is deducted and the tiles change their positions. When all the lives are finished, the game ends. However, in both cases, you can keep playing the same pair matching puzzle game by watching a short video.
